“I have ‘AIS’-Artificial Intelligence Syndrome.
The doctors told me that I will never have an original thought of my own.” ― Anthony T. Hincks
Self-Reliance
I started reading Ralph Waldo Emerson’s 1841 Essay on Self-Reliance.
In his first paragraph I reached for my yellow highlighter and highlighted:
“To believe your own thought, to believe that what us true for you in your private heart is true for all men, – that is genius.”
The word “genius” grabbed my attention.
The last goal of my DMP (Definite Major Purpose) is:
On or before September 1st, 2022 I AM joyous to be officially announcing the opening of the world’s first Geniuses Playground in Puebla, Mexico with at least 100 Master Architects of their Own Destiny. Looking out upon the attendees I recognise many familiar faces. My eyes fill with tears, as my heart swells with enormous admiration and love for the people of Puebla’s faith and support, that has enabled its birthing and their generosity, guaranteeing its continuous ability to flourish.
[Geniuses Playgrounds will be completely redesigned schools that operate according to the human spirit. Master Architects of their Own Destiny are currently referred to as students.]
I first coined the term “Genius Playground” for my creative work-space back in 1995, when I took time out from teaching. It was my “private” space where I had the opportunity to allow my creative mind to explore possible realities. In my Genius Playground my imagination was let loose on addressing the wastefulness of schooling.
For most of my life I had been a Mathematics teacher. Because I struggled with human relations, in the main, my teaching experiences for my students and myself was less than satisfactory.
Looking on the bright side, my personal experience prompted me to seek change. I believed there had to be a better way.
I could see that ‘schooling’ needed more than a band-aid. It was unfixable. If it were a building it would be condemned for demolition.
In 2000, I was asked to write a chapter for Student Motivation – A Collection of Articles, a Hawker Brownlow Education publication, that was renamed Motivation Through Systemic Reconstruction. I called it THE LAST RESORT – Systemic Reconstruction – when all else fails!
My opening statement was, “Demotivation 101 is the most successfully taught subject in schools.” I then outline the difference between two systems; the current R.I.F.E. (Reactionary Fear-based Industrialist Education) or “schooling” and the futuristic P.A.C.E. (Pro-Active Creative-focussed Education) or “Geniuses Playgrounds”.
R.I.F.E.
Although we have experienced the Technological Age and have entered the Age of Information, our education system is still very much defined and confined by the tenets, limitations, values and ethics of imperialism from the Industrialist Age. Its structure, function, philosophy and well-intentioned aims, although progressive for its time, were and still are, inappropriate for the ultimate health of society – past, present and future!
Consider the cumulative daily impact of the arbitrary, irrelevant and insensitive restrictions on our children’s self-esteem and self-motivation, and you will gain a sense of the cancerous nature of a Reactionary Industrialist Fear-based Education (R.I.F.E.).
It eats away at the soul of inspiration. Slavery and child labour may have been abolished in the 19th century, but R.I.F.E.’s corruptive tentacles still encroach upon the ability of our children to play and dream as children.
A child of five enters education curious, inquisitive, in wonder and in awe, interested in everything – what things are, what they mean, how they work and how to use them. He/she exits the system thirteen years later jaded, dissatisfied, disillusioned, cheated of his/her best years, interested only in survival and being better than someone else.
They are only able to relate to others superficially and know themselves even less! They regurgitate the thoughts of others in order to be approved. They are emotionally and intellectually stifled, spiritually ignorant, physically inept and financially dependent. Their self-esteem and self-worth are at the mercy of how they feel they are perceived by others.
P.A.C.E.
Knowing that R.I.F.E. is what we don’t want, I looked inside the eyes of a child and turned to P.A.C.E.
We need a holistically integrated approach, between society and a specifically Pro-Active Creative-focussed Education (P.A.C.E.), to transform the quality of life experiences of all members of society. P.A.C.E. is the nurturing and expansion of inquiring minds of every child to access their genius.
Its primary focus is the well-being of an individual at all times, how a person feels and what a person thinks. Consequently, the wisdom of the moment drives the curriculum, which only acts as the landscape upon which the play of creative learning unfolds.
Systemic reconstruction of our education system requires a transformation in our education values. There must be a paradigm shift from functional, vocational outcomes to personal and humanistic outcomes. First, we need loving human beings who first do no harm!
Secondly, we need human beings who can invigorate society with their entrepreneurial, environmentally sustainable innovations that utilise all of society’s population in useful and valued ways.
Hence, the initial purpose of Pro-Active Creative-focussed Education must be to empower children to think, preparing them to become empowered adults with a strong sense of purpose and community, being more than capable of positively applying their creative urges and talents to make their dreams reality.
After its publication in 2000, my interest in Pro-Active Creative-focussed Education waned.
Through the DMP process my passion to assist humanity to be the best it can possibly be brought about the rebirthing of a revamped P.A.C.E. as Geniuses Playgrounds.
I have already been invited to Puebla, Mexico and should receive a new passport within a week or two. The next step is to schedule my trip.
In an earlier form of my DMP, I started visualizing an entryway into a Genius Playground, that everyone must pass through:
On or before September 1st, 2022 I jubilantly hold and turn the Key of Life with both hands, that everyone of the 100 Master Architects of their Own Destiny must do, permitting them entry into the world’s first Geniuses Playground. When I lift my eyes and gaze upon the letters I.I.I.P.A.C.E.M.E. carved into the underbelly of the trilithonic entryway, tears of joy and delight invigorate me as I recall its meaning “Intelligent, Inspiring and Intuitive Pro-active Creative-focussed Self-Educating creates ME, a Master of Excellence.”
N.B. The Key of Life is another name for the Ancient Egyptian Ankh.
Stonehenge Trilithon
Looking up at the underbelly of the trilithonic entryway made it real for me. I am stilled awed when I look up. Perhaps, Walt Disney might have had a similar experience as he was creating his dream, Disneyland. So many lives have been enhanced by the magic his cartoons created. Geniuses Playgrounds will change life as we know it!
Here is what Wikipedia writes about Emerson’s Self-Reliance Essay:
“Self-Reliance” is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson’s recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow their own instincts and ideas. It is the source of one of Emerson’s most famous quotations: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.” This essay is an analysis into the nature of the “aboriginal self on which a universal reliance may be grounded.”
Again, words jump out at me. “The need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow their own instincts and ideas” describe the quality and resolve of all “Master Architects of their Own Destiny.”
Private Heart
“To believe your own thought, to believe that what us true for you in your private heart is true for all men, – that is genius.”
On doing a Google search for “private heart,” without entering Emerson’s name, I found that 9 out of 11 links mentioned, referred back to the Emerson’s sentence above.
I wasn’t able to find a definition for “private heart,” however my chosen interpretation is “heart of hearts.” In other words, that safe haven that only you are permitted entry to – your inner sanctuary. Your “private heart” is where you can explore ideas without criticism or detractors. It is also that place where, you know, that you know, that you know.
It matters not whether you agree or disagree, I am following my own path, following my own instincts and ideas.
I have been challenged to do so recently and I have turned the corner.
SIAWordPlay
From the Master Key Master Mind Alliance Course (MKMMA) I responded to an invitation given by Mark J (and Liane Hack), to create an online Tapas For Life Course, which will be launched on March 31st 2019.
After changing its name from The Language Matrix to Sherlocking Insightful Answers, my course has now settled as SIAWordPlay. It is a word morph and word associating research tool that always finds answers or solutions from the words of any question or the description of any problem.
One outcome I would love to see is that medical researchers who have completed the course apply this process in their field of expertise.
In my “private heart,” I know, that I know, that I know, that:
“Within the name, names or definition of a disease or illness lies its cure or remedy.”
My challenge is that even though I have successfully used SIAWordPlay on over a hundred thousand words, phrases or sentences during the past 25 years, very little has been shared.
Not using it for the last five months as I put my own research on hold to participate in MKMMA has led to me doubting myself and its validity.
After 25 years I still needed proof.
I applied SIAWordPlay to a new friend’s Vibrationary Signature or first name.
I shared 27 statements electronically with her, of which 25 she responded YES. We have not discussed the merits of the other two. Her comments are bracketed below.
Statements like; “Something significant happened to you when you were 30, because there were new beginnings after that time.” [Close: late 20’s] and “You had a strong connection to both your mother and father and saw your father above all. Presumably that means that you respected your father and he stood tall amongst his peers.” [Dad more than mum].
I am starting to appreciate why Mark J. signs off with “Believe.”
Emerson’s words resonate within me:
“To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, – that is genius.”
I believe.
